Krabi, Day 1: Krabi Town, Night Market

Jul-17:

Recently, I went to Krabi, Thailand on a family trip. There were no direct flights from Kota Kinabalu so we made a stop at Kuala Lumpur first, and then boarded our flight to Krabi via AirAsia. The flight time from Kota Kinabalu to Kuala Lumpur takes about two and a half hours and the one from Kuala Lumpur to Krabi was one and a half hours.

It was my first trip to Thailand and I couldn’t wait to explore when we landed. Opted to travel light and backpack for the short trip and planned to do a lot of sightseeing. Checked into Sleep Whale Express which is located near Krabi Walking Street, convenient for us who plan to go to the night market later. Had some rest in the hotel room before going out again for some Krabi exploration.

Sea eagle sculpture, couldn’t get a good shot of the iconic mud crab sculpture as there were a lot of people hanging around there. It’s fine because I liked this one better.

One of my Krabi wishlist is to explore Khao Khanap Nam but there wasn’t enough time so I just marveled at it from afar.

This is one of my favorite area because they installed hidden speakers and you can hear music as you walk pass, just like the music rock in the Zoo Tycoon games LOL.

Walking along the streets of Krabi we noticed that it was very clean and no rubbish being thrown on the roads or walkways, the night market food stalls were also quite clean and we had some yummy local food, loved the Pad Thai.

As it got darker we made our way to Krabi Walking Street where there’s the weekend night market. Souvenirs were pretty reasonable here so we did our shopping for those at home here. At the center there was a stage and facing the stage was a large eating area with tables and chairs, so you can watch live performances while you eat. The atmosphere’s pretty great but seats were pretty hard to get.

After that we went back to get some rest. And that’s the end of day one or rather a half-day one in Krabi.
