Auckland Zoo

Address: Motions Rd, Auckland 1022, New Zealand

Getting there: funny story, it was supposed to be an easy bus ride from Haka Lodge but we stood at the wrong side of the road and went to the opposite direction. But we sorted things out with the help of the bus driver and managed to get there safely.

Admission: NZD 19.60 via Bookme.com with a discount and no-hassle online booking system, it has a specific entrance time so we were a bit concerned when we took the wrong bus. We got there about half an hour late but luckily still managed to go in without buying new tickets. yey!

Getting around: getting around in zoos can be pretty overwhelming since I don’t want to miss anything, but Auckland Zoo is not considered as a big zoo so getting around is pretty easy even without a map, actually my map was ruined because it rained that day.

Food: had a big breakfast at a cafe near where we stayed so there was no need to have a meal there, just had water and some chocolates.

Animals: there are many types of animals and there were some types of animals that I have never seen before like the Tasmanian devil (didn’t see it in Perth Zoo), Cheetah & the very elusive Kiwi.

Exhibits: the animal enclosures in Auckland are one of the cleanest & the best one that I have ever seen, one Tripadvisor review even compared it to San Diego Zoo (my dream zoo). The water for the animals are kept clean & very clear, the animals look genuinely happy in their enclosures and are up and about even though it is raining.

Rating: a solid 5/5 because the animals are well taken care of and I love how they promote their zoo keepers, showing who is taking care of which section including some fun facts about them.
