When travelling, finding the perfect accommodation is very important because how comfortable I am will influence my mood for sight seeing and exploring.
I don’t prefer hotels because they all have the same one bed and one bath layout, giving me a claustrophobic feeling, plus I don’t have the budget to splurge on hotels. Hostels and backpackers’ lodge on the other hand, while being more budget friendly, comfort doesn’t come easily, especially for an introvert like me.
Then I tried Airbnb when I went to Melbourne, have not and will not turn back to hotels and hostels. Airbnb basically is a website where people share their homes for travelers to stay for their holiday. It provides the comfort of home away from home without breaking the wallet.
I just have to enter the location I’m going and the check-in check-out dates, and it will list out the available houses which I can filter again according to my budget.
My first Airbnb stay was with Tony & Lorraine at Pascoe Vale South, Melbourne. It was a very charming house! From the picture you’d think that it is a small house but it extends to the back.
It has a good sized bathroom, two living rooms, three bedrooms, a big kitchen, laundry room and even has an outdoor area at the back. They installed some running lights and leave it on at night, it really gives an illusion that you are sitting under the stars, if only it weren’t that cold at night.
Tony and Lorraine were very nice host because they show effort to help when we have any questions but also leave me to my privacy at home. They also provided Myki card, the main transportation card used for trams, trains and such. The house was also fully equipped and literally spotless. Only problem was caused by me when I dropped the spoon at the sink which caused a loud metal against metal sound when I was having tea at during midnight.
I enjoyed my stay there and would definitely stay here if I go to Melbourne again.
